Ollert | Destructive Delete Pop Up

Background

Ollert is a product management app that uses workspaces, similar to Monday, Asana, and Slack.

Deleting a project in Ollert also destroys other data, which most users aren’t aware of. Data that will be lost when a user deletes a project: all tasks related solely to the project, all reports created to track the project, and custom rules linked solely to this project. There is no project history and the action cannot be undone once it’s been executed.

Ask

Create the pop-up for this destructive delete feature.

Constraints

  • Clearly communicate all data that will be deleted.

  • Apply medium friction.

  • Avoid humour for a serious action.

  • Ensure users understand the action is irreversible.

Solution

The assignment required designing this pop-up from scratch.

  • Explicitly listed all data that would be deleted.

  • Repeated irreversibility in plain language.

  • Added a confirmation checkbox to require deliberate intent.

  • Used restrained, neutral tone to respect the seriousness of the action.

  • Disabled the destructive CTA until the confirmation step was completed.

Result

A high-stakes confirmation modal designed to prevent regret and build user trust.
